The BPSOS AmeriCorps National*Direct Program is not a job but a service opportunity. It requires a commitment to service, team work and flexibility.
AmeriCorps members will spend their service term assisting special needs clients, including people affected by the recent disasters, in connecting with essential services in order to help them recover and rebuild. Members will serve as Navigators under the CLASS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Social Services) Navigators Program.
To download the application or view more information about the program, go to the CLASS page here.
ResponsibilitiesSimilar to case management, Navigators will determine eligibility of clients, create a service plan with the client, refer them to social services, advocate on their behalf, and coordinate needs and services. Navigators will also teach and explain the concept of case management to the client, and interpret for the client as needed. Navigators help establish the network of member organizations and local contacts for referrals through research and recruitment. Eventually, Navigators teach clients to navigate for themselves.QualificationsCandidates for the program must:

"The reason I love working for BPSOS is that of all the agencies I have worked for, it is so refreshing to be employed by an agency that puts the client and their needs first and far most. I feel this agency is truly invested in the best interest and welfare of the people they service. It has been a true pleasure and wonderful experience learning from everyone here." - Rebecca Connor, Disaster Relief & Recovery Program Director Volunteering @ BPSOS
"I work as an ESL teacher's assistant, and I love it. It was only ten years ago that I was in their position as a new immigrant in the U.S. with absolutely no knowledge of the English language. I'm glad now that I get an opportunity to help others who need the help that I can offer." - Julie Tran, Volunteer Internships
